Measure the stages Etsy's date must cover

For each SKU family, record at least 20 recent normal orders where possible:

The percentile is a business choice, not an Etsy requirement. Use a level that protects your service promise without hiding a process problem.

Group listings by production behavior

If a color or size changes runtime enough to change the promise, use Etsy's variation-level processing capability or separate the offer cleanly.

Convert machine time into business days

A 30-hour print does not equal two processing days if your schedule cannot start it immediately. Work backward from handoff:

1. Open a listing in a private browser/mobile view.

6. Confirm the Orders page shows the expected dispatch-by date.
7. Verify the production team can see that promise in its normal workflow.

If an order contains multiple items, test the combination. Etsy notes that the dispatch-by date follows the longest applicable processing time and that a missing processing time can disrupt the order's displayed date.

Write listing copy that matches the setting

This item is made to order. The processing estimate shown by Etsy covers production, inspection, and packing before carrier handoff. Transit begins after dispatch. Personalized orders begin after required details are complete.

Avoid a fixed “ships in three days” sentence pasted into descriptions when the processing profile says something else. The platform estimate and listing copy must agree.

Handle an at-risk order before it becomes late

When the latest safe start passes:

1. identify the concrete constraint;
2. calculate a new credible handoff date;
3. use Etsy's current order tools to update the date where allowed;
4. send the buyer the date and applicable options;
5. stop accepting more demand if the same constraint remains.

Do not repeatedly extend an order one day at a time. That signals the shop has not calculated the remaining work.

Connect Etsy to Printie accurately
